Copy Editing: the step before proofreading

Think of copy editing as the deep clean your document gets before its final polish. I’ll go through your text with a fine‑tooth comb to catch grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors, smooth out sentences that sound awkward or unclear, and make sure everything stays consistent, from your headings and lists to names, dates, and numbers. I’ll also do a light fact-check of things like proper names and place names.

What I won’t do is restructure your document or rewrite your ideas—your voice and your message will remain entirely yours. (And a friendly heads‑up from one perfectionist to another: it’s always wise to have a proofread done after a copy edit, since no editor catches 100% of errors 100% of the time!)

I copy edit fiction and non-fiction works, academic papers, business documents, educational materials, websites, and more.

I typically work in MS Word but have experience working in Google Docs and Adobe Acrobat as well. I am happy to accommodate you in whichever format works best for you.

I’ll read through your text with my exceptional eye for detail to catch any lingering typos, spelling slip-ups, punctuation mistakes, or formatting inconsistencies, making sure everything is clean, polished, and professional.
